New submissions temporary suspension

October 19, 2007

To allow for a short break, and to catch up on the back log of submissions, new submissions are currently suspended. All back to normal on October 31st.

Category Modifications

August 8, 2007

Some sites attract new submissions, and some none. Social Sciences and Science & Nature had their own top level categories, but very few submissions. They have now been moved to subcategories of Reference and Education. The other change is that 4 sub cats of each main category are now linked from the front page.

Choose the appropriate sub category

August 5, 2007

It takes time to submit a site, so why not the extra seconds to get the right category. Quite a number of sites have been rejected in the last week, as the submitters (1 in particular) feel the need to submit in the highest category possible. If the site is a general web directory, it goes in General Directories, not in the top level Web and Internet. The same goes for sites about Loans & Credit, as well as retail shopping sites.

Description Lengths

July 29, 2007

Modified the rules on site description lengths. New submissions need a description length of at least 100 characters to a maximum of 400. This has 2 purposes:

  1. Cut down on spammy submissions from displosable sites
  2. Increase the chances of site detailed pages being indexed by search engines. This can mean an extra backlink for your site

So longer descriptions are better.

Am I Credit Worthy?

July 15, 2007

The sites targetting people with bad credit histories are all the go. Most are near identical, with variations in URL. A few have been accepted, but later submissions add nothing new.

Flood of Submissions

June 20, 2007

The trickle of submissions has become a flood. Premium Net has been added to the vilesilencer list, and picked up by directorycritic. So the 1-2 day review of free links has gone out the window, as over 50 new submissions per day are received. It is a pity about the quality of some submissions, that are totally against the submission guidelines, and get a quick rejection.
